A few new additions

[edit]

My goal is to add or expand on the items enumerated in the Talk page’s “To-do list.” More specifically, I plan to: (1) Insert a “Canada” paragraph to the “By country” subsection under “Legal right to privacy”; (2) Develop the “Privacy in non-human animals” section; (3) Insert a section on different philosophers’ views of privacy entitled “Philosophical Views on Privacy”; and (4) Insert a section entitled “Personal Control” under “Conceptions of privacy”, from a psychological perspective. --Jane Doe 2024 (talk) 13:31, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Globalize the History section

[edit]

I have just moved the "Internet" section out of the "History" section, as it necessarily involves a more global viewpoint, but the History section is painfully US-centric and gives the impression that privacy itself is a US or Western concept, which is untrue but is often invoked by many entities as a form of propaganda to dissuade people from caring about privacy. To be clear, it would be extremely useful to expand the Internet section with more sources about non-US incidents, but I think it would be most helpful to expand the History section with descriptions of how classical conceptions of privacy have run into the more modern interpretations of privacy around the globe.
